Other highlights in this August (346) issue of CHOICE:

Projectors - In the test, nine models were assessed and compared for image quality (45%), ease of use (25%), environmental assessment and safety (15%), versatility (15%). The top performer (priced at $31,980) achieved 4? stars on a 5-star scale in overall score. Five others were awarded 4 stars in overall score; two had 3? stars; and one (priced at $9,380) had the least of only 3 stars. No safety hazard was found in the insulation strength test.

Smartphones with PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) functionality - Included in the test were 14 smartphones (priced from $2,480 to $5,698) running different operating systems (such as Symbian, Windows Smartphone, Palm OS, Linux or propriatory systems). Tests were performed on the three main applications for general PDA users: contact management, schedule and email. The ease of installation and documentation, data synchronization with computer, ease of modifying data were compared. The samples performed quite differently in different applications. Users are advised to choose carefully to meet their own specific requirements.
