The Consumer Council again named 4 shops involved in cases of selling counterfeit drugs - 3 in Hong Kong Island and and 1 in Kowloon.
Joining hands with the Customs and Excise Department (C&ED), the Council has published the names of 32 shops involved in selling counterfeit drugs in CHOICE since February 2011.
The Consumer Council has received information from the C&ED on 4 more cases with convictions in October and November 2011:

Under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, it is a serious offence to sell or supply for the purpose of trade goods bearing a forged trade mark or a false trade description. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of HK$500,000 and imprisonment for 5 years.
The Council will update the list of shops convicted for selling counterfeit drugs in its website for consumers' information. The public should stop consuming any doubtful drugs and make enquiries to the suppliers or trademark holders. Cases of selling counterfeit drugs could be reported to the Customs and Excise Department.
